It's Oktoberfest weekend at The Westville Warehouse

It's Oktoberfest weekend at the Westville Warehouse, and the folks at our favourite local pool bar are gearing up for a celebratory night of games, live music, German-themed food, dress-up competition, prizes and, of course, plenty of beer on tap! In arguably one of the most festive months of the year, this is one shindig you don't want to miss.

Finding your way to the festive fun in Westville
With a central location at 48a Buckingham Terrace in the heart of Westville, the Warehouse is a convenient community hangout for locals. Fun is the name of the game at this popular pool bar. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. You'll feel quite at home here whether you're perched along the bar sampling their diverse 17-plus beers on tap, shooting pool with your mates or throwing down your dance moves aided by their delicious range of curated cocktails. The Westville Warehouse is clearly on a crusade to let the good times roll, which is all too apparent in the raft of events they host. From sokkie dance parties to karaoke to the weekly Pub Champions League, there's always something on the go designed to bring the locals a load of laughs and unforgettable entertainment.

Oktoberfest at its best
In what has become a hugely anticipated annual tradition, The Westville Warehouse is once again bringing Bavarian gemütlichkeit (friendliness) to the community with their version of Oktoberfest.

Oktoberfest dates back to 1810 when it was originally held in Munich, Germany, to commemorate the wedding of a Bavarian prince. Now, that's one way to kick off marriage in style. Soon, the event was established as a yearly festival that became more about the beerhalls and the brewers than matrimonial bliss. Folks dress up in traditional Bavarian garb, drink around 2 million gallons of beer and generally eat, drink and be merry. Such a jolly occasion is bound to spread. Soon countries all over the world - especially those with significant German populations - were throwing their own Oktoberfests, which brings us to our local variant hosted by the Westville Warehouse.

Celebrate all weekend
This year, the popular event is scheduled to run over three days, beginning on Friday 7th October, with the final festivities on Sunday 9th October. According to the folks at the Westville Warehouse, there will be "fun, games, beer and food" - a winning formula for Oktoberfest success. The entry is free on Friday and Sunday, and the line-up includes a host of live bands. All you need to do is don your dirndl or slip on your favourite pair of lederhose, grab some flavoursome beer, and you are ready to kick up your heels and Schuhplattler like a born Bavarian until the cows come home.

Saturday 8th October is the main event with an R60 entry fee, and there's a load of entertainment on the cards. Bands take to the stage from 12 pm and play until late into the night accompanied by games, a fancy dress competition, prizes and beer drinking (this is Oktoberfest, after all!). With all this fun going on, you are sure to build up a healthy appetite - an issue easily solved with the Westville Warehouse's Oktoberfest menu, featuring tempting German-themed specials like pork, chicken and veg schnitzel, stripped eisbein and Kassler cutlets. If this sounds like something you just can't miss, then book you can book your tickets to the Oktoberfest at https://www.webtickets.co.za/v2/event.aspx?itemid=1518516320

Keeping the good times rolling
Worried about what to do with yourself after the Oktoberfest celebrations? Don't be. In typical Westville Warehouse style, things don't slow down after Oktoberfest. There is always something entertaining in store. Aside from the regular ladies' nights, Pub Champions League, open mic nights, live music and guest DJs, there are also special events planned.

Next up is their Halloween party, which is scheduled for the 29th of October and is sure to be a howling good time, so check out their website or Facebook page to keep updated on what to expect from Westville's favourite pool bar.
