History

Initially established as a farmland in the latter part of the 19th century, Cowies Hill was owned by Scotsman William Cowie and was known as Buffelskop (Buffalo Head). The rich soil and attractive greenery provided a picturesque settlement and the perfect conditions for lucrative farming. The inland area overlooks the suburb of Pinetown and shares historical value with the area.
